Integrated Action Plan for the Next Millennium
"There is no such thing as sustainable technology or economic development without human development." ... Paolo Lugari - Gaviotas 1996
DreamMakers Foundation (DMF) was founded in 1988 on the premise that future leadership will be needed in offering solutions to Maui's identifiable and correctable environmental and societal problems.
DMF believes that a method of involving Maui residents and visitors alike in the process of selecting viable solutions to their cultural, economic and environmental concerns is by educating them, and especially their children, to all of the available alternatives.
501c3 non profit status was applied for and granted in 1991.
Since it's inception, DMF has communicated consistent messages of self-reliance, continuously, through the combining of education and entertainment via live music shows, print and broadcast media.
By this process DMF has created advocates who have grown into activists delivering messages of social concern and self-sufficiency to the community through the political process as candidates.
A 15 year record of providing realistic practical answers to Maui's problems is measurable today by observing politicians who have adopted, as their own, many of the solutions first offered by DMF.
These decades of long effort is verifiable as print, audio and videotape. Executive Director Jason Schwartz has produced over 450 television shows that support the vision and share ideas with local residents and visitors alike.
DMF is leading an ongoing promotion to implement positive economic development in conjunction with human development for a self-reliant Maui and Hawaii as an example for other communities throughout the world !
DreamMakers project addresses these questions:
_ Who will develop ideas and solutions to Maui's problems?
_ What will bring economic diversification/full employment?
_ Where in Hawaii is best to establish demo-projects?
_ When is the right time to begin a program of self-reliance?
_ Why does "synergistics" provide for more opportunities?
_ How can Maui foster a return to non-polluting natural systems of energy and food production employed by earlier cultures?
We address all of the above questions by specifically identifying the technologies and products that are economically, ecologically, locally feasible and inexhaustible.
This plan will greatly stimulate tourism and create many new jobs.
Actualization of DMF's Economic, Cultural and Social missions are linked to the successful securing of grant funding and the availability of donations, gifts in kind and corporate sponsorship contributions.
People Aligned in Positive Action - PAPA, through contributions, will provide the initial funding to MAMA for art and music shows. Maui Arts & Music Association - MAMA, in turn, will produce and profitably market shows and products to fund The Energy Exchange. The Energy Exchange Maui - TEEM, by investing in developing sustainable technology will sell solutions and return profits to PAPA.
PAPA provides, MAMA entertains, The Energy Exchange develops, manufactures, exports goods and re-invests profits in the process.

Integrated Action Plan for this Millennium
HOW DMF'S PLAN WILL MEET COMMUNITY NEEDS
DreamMakers Foundation has three component organizations: MAMA, PAPA and The Energy Exchange Maui which were designed to meet vital community needs and culminate in a renewable energy technology export industry and positive eco-tourism.
DEVELOPMENT
PLAN
FOR MAUI
PAPA, MAMA & TEEM
People Aligned in Positive Action (PAPA)
Economic Mission: PAPA will meet Maui's employment needs by offering a plan to develop a diversified economy.Grants - Initial financial support to PAPA will enable a transition from volunteer to paid professional staff to effectively administer funding to promote cultural events, market art, music, health related products, as well as energy products and projects.
Maui Arts & Music Association (MAMA)
Cultural Mission: MAMA will meet musician, performing and fine artists needs for exposure to larger markets.
*Donor's Initial financial support to MAMA will be used to produce revenue generating events and products, which in turn will benefit all aspects of the arts on Maui, while providing income to fund renewable and sustainable energy projects.
Social Mission: TEEM's plan will significantly lower the REAL cost of Power and move Maui closer towards self-reliance. Corporate Sponsors: Initial financial support from MAMA to The Energy Exchange will permit installation of proto-typical alternative energy systems as demo-projects that will reduce, and eventually eliminate, our reliance on fossil fuels and other pollutants that degrade our islands. The marketing of these devices and products can effectively create a technology "export" from Hawaii to the world!
DMF IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO SELL DREAMS
Support will be solicited from CEO's of many like thinking organizations that are known by the community and will align naturally with the Foundations goals.
These include the following: Philanthropic Groups, appropriate socially conscious Corporate Sponsors, as well as Environmental Groups, Individuals Energy Experts, the Entertainment Industry; Movie, Television, Record Companies, Recording Artists; Visual Artists, Art Galleries, Book Publishers, Advertising, Marketing Agencies and Political Servants.
* In-kind donations- performances of local Stars and Emerging Talents through a "MAMA: Master + Apprentice Mentoring Program" will make these cultural events viable and profitable!
MAMA, PAPA & TEEM:
The RIGHT STUFF for Maui
DMF's decade long track record of individual talent development social and cultural involvement demonstrates the ability of the foundation and its components to reach each goal that is set.

To attract and develop teams to generate and maintain funding, communicate and manage marketing activities. CONCURRENT GOAL: gather the support to initiate a major reforestation project in conjunction with Paolo Lugari and the Gaviotas team, Gunter Pauli and the ZERI (Zero Emissions Research Institute) team and DMF team.
THIS IS ALREADY HERE. WE HAVE A PROJECTED ALLIANCE WITH GAVIOTAS & ZERI, PAOLO & GUNTER.
Second Goal: To develop and transform an unfunded grassroots effort into a fully supported program that reaches the world through media with messages about self-reliance. CONCURRENTLY, initiate the reforestation plan and continue a media effort to assure continued funding of everything thru global contributions and product purchase.
Third Goal: To create income streams from products produced from concerts: CD's and Videos directing "Royalties" to help support the continuation of the DMF, PAPA, MAMA, The Energy Exchange and benefit participating communities countrywide.
PERSONAL
Political candidate interview shows broadcast daily since the primary elections to every cable subscribing home by Akaku: Maui Community Television. This plan provides for DMF producers, camera operators, editors and crew members to transition from volunteer to paid positions.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
These following industries will employ hundreds, perhaps thousands on Maui resulting in economic recovery: Entertainment, tourism, aqua-culture, hydroponics, diversified agriculture, water conservation including solar desalination, non-electric wells and catchment systems. Renewable technologies include: biomass, hydrogen fuel cells, geothermal, photo voltaic, solar thermal and wind and thermoacoustics. Also promising is solar electric light rail, auto/truck conversions from fossil fuel to hybrid hydroelectric systems.
WHO DREAMMAKERS
WILL SERVE
The People - Programs developed by "market synergy" in coordination with MCC, MRTP, MCAC will educate and train people to think, design, manufacture, install, entertain, teach, heal, build and above all... aspire to new heights.
The Community - Job creation to meet DMF's planned conversions to alternative technology manufactured on Maui is primary. (Two products currently being developed on the Island - Waste to Energy Bioconverters and Solar Thermoacoustic Cooler/Dryers and Solar Co-generator Concentrators, with their free, viable, non-polluting energy generation and refrigeration.)
Cultural / Art Talent- Members of Maui's art, music and cultural scene will appreciate a unique mentor / apprentice program that recognizes the ability of our resident established stars to help gain exposure for our emerging talents.
National - Market demographics in the U.S. identify 44 million, as "cultural creatives" likely to purchase CD's/videos containing powerful messages about preservation of the Aina and the concept of self-reliance through renewable technologies.
International -DMF ís tourism proposal links entertainment, the environment and energy into a unified promotion that will enhance export sales of renewable technologies worldwide. The Environment. Presenting Maui as a progressive and self-reliant destination is a powerful message of hope to all of the communityís in the world that are seeking to be free of the imports that are keeping them financially enslaved and dependent.
DMF LIFESTYLE ENVISIONED
There must be harmony between the earth and our hearts in the self-reliant society that we are striving to develop. Jason Schwartz - Maui 1991 A society with a somewhat bottom up grassroots orientation may be the way to lovingly guide Maui towards a natural and sustainable future, preventing our communities from becoming like most other cities.
Community - WHAT IF, we create small empowered communities that are self-governing in regard to energy generation with the ability to determine appropriate land use and codes based upon district votes. DMF and district elected officials would conduct timely charettes to establish community ideals that once agreed upon would be forwarded to the county council for planning approvals and implementation.
Education - WHAT IF, we provide plans for a two year capstone Maui University that is a self-contained community designed to be eco and energy sensitive with an ìohanaî vision, becoming a new kind of campus that integrates family housing and service centers. (A study of projects such as Gaviotas and Paolo Solari's Cosanti could provide a preliminary model for the design of new kinds of future community projects that would incorporate the concept of village clusters with renewable technologies.)
Humanism - WHAT IF, we provide health care based upon a precept of social consciousness and a concern for others in need. Can this lead to Senior Villages and Healing Centers that are dedicated to Life Extension / Rejuvenation Centers for body, mind and spirit.
Social Cooperation - WHAT IF, public and private organic gardens supply island grown fruits and vegetables to our markets at prices that are competitive... for local consumption... supplemented by imports.
Common Sense - WHAT IF, we meet local needs first: like water conservation, diversifying agriculture, by building intelligently, end cane crops/burning and move away from pollutants and fossil fuels. We CAN develop a life in harmony AND, the process must begin now. Knowing the world is competitive, not cooperative, we must guard Maui against becoming another player in an apocalyptic resource war through an intelligent transformation from what is already here. FURTHERMORE, REFORESTATION EFFORTS WILL BE A GLOBAL EXAMPLE WHICH CAN BE SEEN UP CLOSE IN MAUI, WHERE GAVIOTAS HAS BEEN HAMPERED IN THIS REGARD BECAUSE OF ITS LOCATION IN COLOMBIA.
D M F A G E N D A
First, WE MUST foster solidarity by promoting the visionís benefits.
Second, WE MUST bring an awareness to those who are in a position to provide the funds that are necessary for us to begin.
Third, WE MUST win them to the vision of making Maui ìAn Isle of Hopeî by appealing to their spiritual nature and better selves.
Fourth, WE MUST divert the self-destructive course which we are currently on to one of self-reliance, or all we value will be lost.
Fifth, WE MUST protect the integrity of the vision as the plan spreads from Hawaii, globally... and because it is noble... God will bless it.
