Committed to Innovation and Sustainability

The DreamMakers Foundation, M.A.M.A. & P.A.P.A. are the three divisions of our organization, representing the aspects of our intentions.

The Maui Arts & Music Association (MAMA) celebrates and promotes all forms of art – visual and media arts, healing and performance arts, and cultural and traditional Hawaiian arts. By fostering creativity and giving artists and musicians a platform to share their work, MAMA connects the universal appeal of art and music with economic and environmental initiatives that protect and restore Maui, Hawaii, and the planet.

Mission and Vision

MAMA’s mission is to promote art, music, and the cultures of the world to fuel research and development in environmental solutions, thereby creating jobs and diversifying the economy. The higher purpose is to draw initial attention through art and music in order to educate supporters about economic and environmental solutions designed to protect and restore our world.

We seek to inspire individuals and organizations to join together and take action—to create a better world that is economically stable, environmentally sustainable, and full of hope. Through income derived from art, music, and cultural projects, we aim to encourage renewable energy and implement socially responsible initiatives that deliver environmental and economic prosperity and peace worldwide.

People Aligned in Positive Action (P.A.P.A.) is the action-driven division of the DreamMakers Foundation of Maui. While ideas and visions are essential, P.A.P.A. exists to transform plans into real-world impact. Our mission is simple yet powerful: Uplift communities through job creation, education, and environmental empowerment—building a stronger, more sustainable Hawaii.

Job Creation and Workforce Development

At the heart of P.A.P.A. is a commitment to grassroots job creation. We believe that prosperity begins with opportunity, and our programs are designed to:

  • Create immediate employment opportunities for local residents
  • Support vendors and businesses through increased traffic and spending
  • Strengthen Maui’s economy with innovative, community-first financial models
  • Encourage cooperation and goodwill across diverse groups

This is not a trickle-down approach—it’s direct action that benefits people right now.

Educational and Informative Programs

Knowledge fuels empowerment. P.A.P.A. develops educational initiatives that:

  • Provide training and workforce development opportunities
  • Share insights into clean, green technologies
  • Connect communities with cultural and environmental learning experiences
  • Inspire individuals to take part in sustainable practices

Through workshops, events, and collaborative programs, we ensure that education leads to actionable solutions.

Economic and Environmental Empowerment

  • Promote renewable energy solutions
  • Support sustainable business practices
  • Encourage community-driven economic growth
  • Showcase Maui as a global example of environmental leadership

Our programs prove that environmental responsibility and economic prosperity can—and must—go hand in hand.

Vision & Impact

The DreamMakers Foundation of Maui envisions a world where:

  • Art, music, and culture fuel environmental innovation
  • Communities thrive through cooperation and shared prosperity
  • Renewable energy and sustainable practices regenerate both Maui and the global environment

By aligning creativity with sustainability, we deliver environmental progress, economic stability, and cultural enrichment that benefits Hawaii and the world.

A speech and letter to the editor delivered in 1993 by Jason Schwartz, Executive Director of Maui DreamMakers, sharing his vision:

“Sharing the vision of the world in which we choose to live – this is the most important single answer we want to convey to the people of the world. If we choose to change the paradigm under which the political system exists, we MUST keep our sights on how we want the world to be and must work to take ideas for what the future can be, and act from this vision in all we do, no matter how challenging it may be to do so.

“We hold a vision of a world where we have all the answers for all the people. We can have development and responsible environmental choices in the same programs. We can cooperate and make lots of money, so often the commodity we all need in this world and bring the bickering to an end.

“We can foster goodwill and economic assistance between the large economic powerhouses and environmental progressives, like me. We can marry the old and wise ideas and traditions of a past Hawaii with the high-tech futuristic solutions of today and tomorrow.

“There can be answers to all of the problems we face. We simply must HOLD THAT VISION and take ACTION!

“Vision, desire and action all walk hand in hand. When there is vision, we create what we see!

“It is NOW, not some future unreachable hope! We offer to share a vision of a beautiful future, consciously creating and implementing an economic and environmental integrated action plan

“TO PROMOTE ART, MUSIC AND THE CULTURES OF THE WORLD TO FUEL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS, thereby creating jobs & effectively diversifying the economy.

“Our goal is to link up individuals and non-profit companies, all making money AND helping us towards our goal: Our primary originally charted purpose is to promote the arts, music and cultures of the islands and through that promotion, create sales that inflow money to us to be used for the necessary research and development AND IMPLEMENTATION of important environmental programs and products and JOB CREATION, coupled with education; to establish a major renewable energy demonstration project using CUTTING EDGE technologies HERE in Maui, thereby creating JOBS through the process for the peoples of Maui AND for the peoples of the world, by actualizing a continued real paradise.

“…a perfect marriage of vision for a brighter future.

“WE CAN BE A LIVING BREATHING GLOBAL EXAMPLE

“WHERE GOOD WILL AND COOPERATION HAS BROUGHT

“GREATER YIELDS THAN THROUGH COMPETITION.

“A vision without action is a daydream.

“Ideas are only effective when they are implemented.

“It is only through cooperation and mutual benefit that we, as a local, statewide, national, and international community, can hope to grow and prosper with a balanced overall plan – a plan to RE-GENERATE NEW LEADERS capable to continue the actions of that plan – a plan that requires the ACTION and DEDICATION of its people,

“a plan of VISION
a plan of PEACE
a plan of FAITH
a plan of COMPASSION
a plan of GOD
in other words,
a plan of LOVE.”
